"Minimalist design pairs perfectly with Danish and Scandinavian furniture, offering a calm and natural home environment where the emphasis is on practical quality and timeless aesthetics. Many iconic pieces in our collection were created by masters of minimalism, including Børge Mogensen, Hans Wegner, and Finn Juhl, who crafted designs that only become more beautiful with time. In my own home, the minimalist approach is reflected in the prominence of the Delphi sofa and the Spanish Chair, both of which hold a special place in my décor."

Borge Mogensen was an iconic designer who created many renowned pieces during the 1950s and 1960s. His lifelong aim was to make simple furniture that were functional. He believed that while being aesthetically pleasing was important, he believe design should never compromise functionality. His favourite material to work with was wood in various finishes and forms.

One of Mogensen’s most iconic pieces is the Spanish Chair, an interpretation of a traditional type of chair often found in areas influenced by ancient Islamic culture – from Andalusia to northern India.

History of Scandinavian Minimalist Design Scandinavian minimalist design has its roots in the early 20th century, emerging as a response to the ornate and often cluttered styles that preceded it. This design philosophy places a premium on simplicity, functionality, and beauty, reflecting the Nordic way of life. Pioneers like Arne Jacobsen, Hans Wegner, and Børge Mogensen championed this movement, creating timeless pieces that continue to influence designers worldwide. WHAT OTHERS HAD TO SAY

My fiancée and I were searching for modern furniture pieces that not only look beautiful but also are practical. Danish Design ticked all the boxes - superb comfort and aesthetics value, a decent variety of different furniture lines, and staff who are willing to take their time to explain the pieces to you. For many of their sofa lines, they have a wide array of different fabrics (and colours) to suit your lifestyle (eg, warmer or cooler materials). We ended up getting a Bolia couch and a Skovby dining table - wish we had gotten more! Definitely will return again

Danish Design has always been my go-to place for furniture shopping. They have the most fashionable but also timeless pieces. And while some are not cheap they are made with great quality. We bought our favourite dining walnut table that is ever so timeless but also the most versatile being able to sit 6 and up to 10-12 when we extend it. It is our third time renovating and we are taking this favourite piece w us in our move… and more importantly we always get great service from danish design even after many years.
