Danish architect and designer Jeppe Utzon hail from a family with a long line of architects and designers, being the grandson of Jorn Utzon, the original designer of the Sydney Opera House. Jeppe Utzon designs in a self owned studio based in Copenhagen and has completed projects for clients from all around the globe. His diverse portfolio ranges from private luxury homes to iconic commercial buildings and floating social housing. He kickstarted his career when he won multiple awards for his BBQ design for Electrolux. In 2015, dk3 collaborated with Utzon. This resulted in the simple but modern Jeppe Utzon #1 Dining Table.

Dining table #116 is a rectangular table model with rounded corners and a central pedestal base with a soft geometrical shape with edgy, wedge-shaped end pieces. The table is equipped with a patented, synchronous extension system. Pull apart the tabletop to reveal the extension leaf hidden in the base and apply light pressure to rise and unfold the leaf. Like most of our tables, this table is available in solid and veneered versions. On the solid versions, the wood strips run across the tabletop and the separately ordered extension leaves will have the same direction. As something special for this veneered tabletop, our designer has chosen together with us to let the veneer run along the length of the table top. As it is not possible to match a longitudinal veneer, we have chosen to let the veneer pattern on the extension leaves run across the tabletop instead.
