Hans J. Wegner is an iconic Danish designer known for his masterful chair creations. Throughout his career, Wegner has designed numerous chairs. Of these, the most known would be the Ox and Queen Lounge Chair for Erik Jorgensen and J16 The People’s Rocking Chair for Fredericia. His chair designs are internationally known and touted as modern Scandinavian furniture classics. His pieces combine form and function and hold high standards of comfort and ergonomics. He believes that a chair isn’t merely a piece of furniture but a work of art that was made to support the human form. Wegner frequently uses wood as a material in his designs, drawing from his background as a skilled cabinet maker. Many of his chairs showcase unique sculptural lines using the wood as a frame-giving material.
