Borge Mogensen was an iconic designer who created many renowned pieces during the 1950s and 1960s. His lifelong aim was to make simple furniture that were functional. He believed that while being aesthetically pleasing was important, he believe design should never compromise functionality. His favourite material to work with was wood in various finishes and forms.

GamFratesi studio was founded by Danish architect Stine Gam and Italian architect Enrico Fratesi. This award-winning Danish-Italian design duo is a rising star in the design world with their poetically organic, yet defined, style that bridges northern and southern design culture.

GamFratesi’s designs take their creative drive from a combination of tradition and the contemporary in an experimental approach with materials and techniques. With their dual traditional background, Stine and Enrico draw on classic Danish furniture and craft traditions, as well as the classic Italian intellectual and conceptual approach. From this cross-cultural substrate they create furniture that respectfully reflects tradition while also featuring subtlety embedded stories, symbols and associations.

GamFratesi are the award winners of the 2015 Finn Juhl Architectural Prize, 2015 Milano Design Award, Guest of Honour at the 2014 Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair, 2013 Elle Decoration International Design Award and the Three-Year Working Grant from the Danish Arts Foundation.

Scandinavian Dining Chairs: Timeless Design and Elegance

Simplicity, functionality, and elegance are the essential fundamentals of wellknown Scandinavian design furniture. These minimalistic, sleek aesthetics result in timeless pieces that look beautiful in most settings. When looking closely at Scandinavian design dining chairs, there are a few that particularly stand out to us. One such chair is the Flamingo Dining Chair. The minimalistic design of the Flamingo Dining Chair is stunning and remains relevant today. The Danish design duo, Foersom & HiortLorenzen, have created a floating expression throughout the dining chair, with an exquisite interplay between the slender steel frame and the soft upholstered seats. The beautiful details of the chair are highlighted within the organic shape of the elegantly rounded seat, making it a true masterpiece. Next, the BM62 Dining Armchair deserves special mention. The BM62 Dining Armchair has a strong link to nature due to the materials used by the legendary designer Brge Mogensen. The exposed construction of the solid wooden frame showcases the flawless craftsmanship within the joinery of the design. The shape of the sledge legs makes the BM62 Dining Armchair perfect for use on softer floors. The seat and back have been elegantly engineered for comfort whilst still adding detail and interest to the simple yet striking design. Lastly, the Masculo Dining Chair Metal brings Danish elegance with playful Italian design, curated by the designer duo, GamFratesi. The overly large backrest creates a high level of comfort, while the delicate metal legs deliver sculptural excitement. WHAT OTHERS HAD TO SAY

Danish Design has always been my go-to place for furniture shopping. They have the most fashionable but also timeless pieces. And while some are not cheap they are made with great quality. We bought our favourite dining walnut table that is ever so timeless but also the most versatile being able to sit 6 and up to 10-12 when we extend it. It is our third time renovating and we are taking this favourite piece w us in our move… and more importantly we always get great service from danish design even after many years.

We were fortunate to be served by the professional Danish Design Team, especially Karl, who made the whole experience that much better! Purchased a Bolia Sofa and Skovby Dining Table during our visit. Cant wait to receive them! Highly recommend to any homeowners looking to equip your house with quality pieces! 1
