In today's world more and more children seem to spend hours on phones and iPad’s as parents are overwhelmed by responsibilities and peer pressure makes being “on line” a must. Singapore fast paced and advanced digital society puts significant pressure on our children. We know that developing imagination and creativity in children is so important. It helps with cognitive development, builds problem solving skills, develops emotional expression and social skills. It can also help kids be more independent and build confidence. Lots of activities support this and as part of these we believe that the design of kids' bedroom and especially beds from brands like Oliver Furniture and Lifetime Kids, can foster creativity by creating an environment that encourages imaginative play. Here’s five ways that design contributes to creativity in children:

"As a child of the 60s and 70s, my childhood was filled with creating my own entertainment, and that's exactly what we should encourage in our children today. Scandinavian design principles for children's bedrooms can help foster this creativity, offering spaces that inspire imaginative play. With thoughtful design, a few well-chosen items like stuffed toys, a pair of binoculars for spotting imaginary distant adventures, and the company of a couple of friends, you’ve set the stage for an entire afternoon of fun—no screens needed!"

1. Playful and Multifunctional Design:
Giving kids their own space where their furniture stimulates imagination and encourages play. In space tight Singapore look to transform Kids bedrooms into areas they can play and develop. For example, Oliver Furniture and Lifetime Kids beds can be multifunctional, transforming into bunk beds, loft spaces, or play areas. These features stimulate imaginative play, allowing children to envision the bed as a fort, ship, or castle. For example, Lifetime Kids beds often come with themes like "treehouse" or "tent," sparking adventure and storytelling.
2. Open-Ended Play:
Good design encourages open-ended play, meaning there’s no "right" way to use the space. Children can adapt the bed into their stories or games, which is essential for creative development. Singapore's education system is known for its high academic standards and focus on preparing students for the future. Indeed many Singapore children face much pressure to get the right answer in their school work so its also good to give children time to play and invent in their own time and at their own choice. Give them a considered and fun bedroom design where they can invite friends and enjoy creative imaginative play. Pop the digital devices away and leave them to play.
3. Simplicity and Minimalism:
A room where the themes of simple, minmalist Scandinavian design are used can help promotes calm and order. These are important for focused play. Bright colours or patterns can overwhelming while, the neutral tones invite children to bring their own creativity to the space with toys, books, or crafts. using ranges like Oliver and Lifetime , while incorporating fun facets of design, they can also offer good storage solutions - to hide away clutter - and considered design to calm the senses.
4. Physical Activity
Beds with built-in slides, ladders, or climbing features not only encourage physical movement but also help kids develop motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Physical play is closely linked to cognitive development and creativity. They also make for a great play date.
5. Encouraging Social Interaction:
When beds have enough space for friends to join in, they encourage group play. Children create games and stories together, building social and communication skills while stretching their imagination. Take a look at the Oliver Camp bed canopy, Wild in thick, undyed canvas, which is perfect for the globetrotter exploring the Nordic wilderness or camping by a quiet lake surrounded by tall spruces and mountains. When closed, the heavy canvas creates the feeling of a tent where one can travel the world in a single night with a flashlight, stuffed animals, and tall tales. As dawn breaks, the canvas can easily be pushed aside and mounted with loops on the bed frame or rolled up on all sides, allowing one to observe the animals at the edge of the forest, plan routes in daylight, and search for new horizons and the distant shores of tomorrow 🦒🐘🐱🐵🦓 Kids have great imaginations lets give them the setting to feel inspired.

WHAT OTHERS HAD TO SAY
I recently had the pleasure of working with Danish Design Co Singapore, and I can't recommend them highly enough. From start to finish, the team was friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly professional. They took the time to understand my needs and preferences, and worked closely with me to create a custom furniture solution that was both beautiful and functional. The quality of their products is truly exceptional. Every piece is crafted with care and attention to detail, and the materials used are of high quality. I was impressed by the craftsmanship and attention to detail in every piece of furniture I saw.

Glad to know there is a dealer selling Duxiana beds in Singapore! They are really comfortable beds that is worth the price, not to mention that they helped immensely with my insomnia after so many unsuitable mattresses that I have went through.

I visited the Danish Design Co showroom recently and it is great to know that Danish Design Co now represents the excellent and high end Swedish bed brand: Duxiana. My husband and I purchased a Duxiana when living in Europe and we both really adore it. We have the Dux 6006 and from the first night on that bed we enjoyed better comfort and much better sleep. I truly believe this is one of the best furniture purchases we have made, you spend so much time in bed over a lifetime it is worth the investment. The only regret that I have is not buying a Dux earlier. I would recommend a visit to check them out. It is a cool showroom.
